In march I purchased a beautiful mare, Dyers Sugar Bush baby knowing there was a BIG possibility she would never get in foal, as previous owners have bred her and never had any luck. And the farm I purchased her from ultrasounded her and the vet had told them she was in foal, but he wasnt positive because he couldnt get in far enough. So they figured she was pregnant and she just never got any bigger ect. So they decided they would sell her so I swooped up the oppertunity to purchase such a lovely mare with great bloodlines and a show record, I figured I could at least learn how to show with her and just have fun with her but would also try for a baby, and save up money to have a reproductive examination. So Sugar came to me in March and I started breedin her to our black and white stallion Fallen Ash Farms Brave Hero, just to see if she would become pregnant, well months and months went by and Sugar was still coming into heat each month, so I would breed her with hero, and nothing
. So I took her to some shows and just had fun with her. And started training her to jump and drive. So in August I decided I would make the 3 hour trip to take Sugar to the Reproduction Specialist in North Chatham. We arrived there with a buddy for sugar for that long 3 hour ride. We unloaded them from the trailer and took them into the clinic. We got her all set up and started the ultrasound and to my suprize sugar was CARRYING A FOAL! About 4 weeks... so the vet assumed everytime Sugar was being bred she would take but isnt producing enough hormones and was dropping the foal. She she gave me some regumate to give her for abouth a month, and she was going to call me with her hormone testing results, and make an appointment for another ultrasound to make sure things are progressing and shes still carrying that foal! So needless to say my mares IN FOAL, but we arent out of the woods yet, hopefully the regumate helps her hold onto that foal! Its going to be a long road until foaling time next year, but It is going to be well worth it, although it may be her only foal if its a filly
. Will keep updates on her. And will post pictures of sugar and the stallion she was bred to later today. So all PRAY that she holds this foal until foaling time next may/june.
