Dealing With Mud

I got an area I am planning on fencing in and putting shelters and paddocks on but it gets muddy when it rains pretty bad. I am looking for ideas to help alleviate this. Getting good dirt here is near impossible or very costly. So trying to figure out some alternatives.

Could you get some stone dust to elevate the shealter?

I saw a farm that had used carpet in a paddock for an erosion area. It worked pretty well. When I saw it, it had been there for many years and was still doing its job.

Then don't build it there in the first place unless that is your only choice. You'll be fighting a real battle that will make you tear your hair out and get costly.
