There was a good crowd there! They didn't start the horses until about 1 PM. The bidding (sale) was going really slow. We left about 5:30 PM and they were just about to start the colts. So I don't have colt prices. The mare and foal pairs (they were not weaned yet) were sold separately to different buyers.

The missing ones were scratched or not there. If I'm wrong in the prices, correct me

Wow, for the most part, pretty sad...

I thought those prices weren't too bad for an auction, compared to auctions in my area. The stallions and geldings were low but that's expected with how our market is today. Thanks for posting. ~Jessica

Lots of very nice horses. I came home with 2, Reo went home with one and Songcatcher bought at least one.

The colt prices were down with some exceptional colts in the sale. There were several that I would have loved to purchased and gelded for youth gelding.

Robin and Davie:

Look pretty good to me (over all) for an auction -- compared to others I have participated in. Looks like a lot of horses over 1000 and even quite a few much over that.

Thanks for taking the time to post them.

JJay

having never been to a mini auction forgive me for asking the obvious but.. was there a glaring difference in the quality of horses that were going for 150-300 bucks vs the 1000 buck horses or do you feel color played a part or bloodlines ect in the increased or decreased price?

Lisa, i've gone to quite a few mini horse sales/general horse sales and i think what REALLY makes the difference in the price is how they present them in the sale ring. The horses that are just led in in a barn halter and just walked in a circle usually are on the lower end. While, the horses that are brought in in a show halter-show groomed-makeup ext and set up corrently and get the neck ext and look GOOD normally bring the higher end of the sale.

Just what i've noticed

Thanks Davie! I was hoping you'd post those! :aktion033:

IMO what really matters is how many people want to bid on the horse and how high they are willing to go -- and how many horses there are in the sale vs how many people are looking to buy.

Sometimes you just run out of buyers before you run out of horses.

Sometimes the horses that show up may be only diamonds in the extremely rough -- right out of the pasture - either fat or skinny and unkempt coats -- looking like they need a home --- vs the ones that are prepped like they are going to a show -- or a least look like someone cared enough to feed them, give them a good grooming etc.. not necessarily all dolled up.

Behaviour can make a difference as well - acting crazy vs a little spunky -- or extremely laid back.

With geldings --- one that can do performance (and be showed off in the ring by a youth) will bring more money than one that is a nice lawn ornament. They don't have to be show material -- but broke to drive or ride or halter or jump etc.. all helps the gelding.

just my opinion

Well, here is a good example. I'll use my horses

Mare that I headed and necked--getting too cool here to body clip before winter--sold very well

Other mare that is a broodmare and would only stand for having her bridle path done brought under 500

Gelding that is broke to drive was head and necked. Since I work the auction, was not able to get hooked up to a cart--he is also a greyhoundy type horse--never get's fat sold for under 500. Might have brought more if I could have driven him for folks to see--just can't be in two places at one time.

Weanling colt I brought in that morning straight from the pasture-nothing done, except groomed, sold DIRT CHEAP--someone got a very nice colt for little of nothing--but that is OK. He was a going to be a tall colt and solid color to top it off. Probably would not have sold for much more since we were loosing lots of bidders by the time we started selling the colts.

The colts that sold for over 500 I believe folks were there specifically for them and had to wait till the end of the sale as I don't believe they bought another horse beside the one they did but would have to go look at my records.

Davie, I had to laugh at the "Little Wacrapas" colts. I think that should be the Little Wacrapa horses, owned by the Loves. They were supposed to have a filly in the sale too, but I didn't see her name. Do you know anything about her?

Rita

Well, what the heck, it still prints it that way. Supposed to be w a s h i t a

Rita, I'm sitting here LMAO!!! :new_rofl:

I didn't notice the spelling that the forum changed it to. VERY FUNNY!!!

I wonder what Diane would think? :bgrin

Sounds like a nice sale compared to others I have heard about. Curiousity is killing me about lot #46? Unnamed AMHR pending black appy filly. Can anyone fill me in on what she was like? Would she be an under size 34" at maturity? What kind of coat pattern, like leopard, blanket? Would she have been AMHA also? Who is the lucky person that got her? Sounds like for the price she bought she is a super nice one to own! congrats whoever got her! Lavonne

She was an AMHR only weanling filly. She was taller and she was pretty nice! She was a black appy with great markings! Like a blanket appy whose blanket goes towards the shoulders. Very nice spots.

Where and when is this sale??? Is it a regularly scheduled sale?? How would we get information on the next one??

Hi All

I saw the forum spell checker had changed the spelling and went in several time and on two different computer to fix the spelling, but to no avail.

It is supposed to be W a s h i t a go figure.

The sale is held twice a year, the first Saturday in May and the 4th Saturday in September.

Both the high selling mare and filly were purchased by the same gentleman. I'm not a fan of the appaloosa but both were beautiful and could easily have come to my barn. Both black appaloosa, long necks, beautiful heads, level topline--a beautiful picture to see.

Rita, they were supposed to have Black Ice in the sale, but she was scratched just before she went into the sale as she had a leg injury I believe.
