IN MY OPINION the prices were about right for the horses presented and today's market. They were presented beautifully by Traci from Double Diamond. They were clipped and had show halters, but some had clearly not been handled much, and many of the yearling and 2YO colts were not registered. Many of the fillies were waiting on papers. The colts brought on my estimated average about $200.
Boston looked beautiful. I was concerned though that he had nothing in foal for 2009 or 2010. Last offspring I found in the catalog was 2008 models. That, and I have WAY too many stallions anyhow, was why I didn't bid. If he's fine, somebody got a heck of a deal because he was gorgeous.
Yes Soaring Eagle did sell. The farm was dispersing and they sold every horse they brought. The first 2 farms KBS and M & R ( I think) were dispersing and they sold without reserve.
It was a nice auction, although it started 30+ minutes late. Jay Chupp did another nice job managing. The ring was lovely with plants and flowers. Horses were presented nicely.
