2nd foal for Maple Hollow Farms!!!

[Maple Hollow Farm]

Well we finally have a foal at 343 days gestation and am thrilled! Lakeviews Diamond Gal foaled at approx 4am this morning and had a beautiful Bay (possibly roan) filly. She is very upright and correct on her legs, has a long neck, pretty head, I just love this filly. She is sired by Little Kings Sonic Supreme, a blue roan son of Komokos Little King Supreme, who is a great producer and has HOF foals! Diamond is a maiden and is being a very good mom but is very protective so far.

And of course I am not allowed to post without pictures so here are some from less than an hour old. Will be taking new ones hopefully soon!

Thanks so much for all the compliments on her, I am thrilled with her and cant wait to see how she matures! Its amazing what long fluffy hair can do though, she is now a lil puffball LOL!

Thanks, I love Diamond too even though she is being a lil stinker about her foal, anyone have any suggestions to get her over guarding her foal from me even pinning her ears at me!? I am doing repetition now just to get her used to me being near but she is not happy about it LOL. Mars is due 4/17 for her 310 days she has foaled at 310 and 313 previously (the 310 foal is a full sibling to the one she is carrying now).

This is Diamonds first foal right? I don't have much experience with the problem but I would take things really slow with her. Bring treats and give lots of neck scratches and then maybe have someone hold her and try to keep her calm while you play with the foal. Just for a minute or two at first and then slowly increase the time. Hopefully she'll start to relax and understand that you're not going to hurt the foal.

I saw her being born but the cam isn't clear enough to see her true beauty. well done I am not surprised that you are tickled pink cos she is gorgeous

Yep this is her first foal, I have never had one do this either and was kind of thinking along the same lines you are of just making her realize slowly that it is ok for me to touch the baby. And as long as I have ahold of the baby she isnt so bad its when Im coming to get her. I just am keeping a good eye on her even when she isnt being bad, I dont want to trust her and then regret it when she bites me. Putting the halter on her first seems to help too plus it give me some control just in case.
