I have 2 foals that were born in June that are still sporting a thicker coat.....they don't seem in any distress and gallivant around like demons...but was wondering if I should clip them or leave them be for natural protection from flies and such?

I totally clipped mine and I'm about to do it again. Trying to keep that darn fur off of them. They were itching like crazy. I used a 10 but you might want to try an 8 if you want to leave something on them.

I would clip but not worry about how it looks-just go for comfort.Clip with the growth of the hair not against hair like you clip normally. This will leave some length and leave some protection against sunburn or rain.Or I have used a #4 blade in the past and clip against the hair. They will feel much better in this awful heat.Happy hair removal.
