How does this work? Can the foal be R registered

I could do that? AMHR wouldn't give me a problem because the stallion listed on the AMHA papers is already registered AMHR? That's what I'd originally thought of doing, but then thought that if AMHR checks & sees the stallion is already AMHR and never brought permanent, ownership never...

How does this work? Can the foal be R registered

Hi, Sorry if this is a stupid question. But I'm not sure how (or if) this would work. I recently purchased an AMHA mare from an elderly lady. This mare is bred to, what I'd believed to be an AMHA-only stallion. The elderly lady gave me the AMHA breeding certificate and transfer paper. She's a...

    Maiden Mare Accidentally Killed Foal

Thank you everybody. And Desiree, thank you for having the "nuts" to voice what I was thinking but didn't have the nerve to say.....

    Maiden Mare Accidentally Killed Foal

I was handling her bag daily for over a month & at the end even spent a little extra time "messing" with it because I knew she had been touchy about it previously. Not so much as a twitch out of her when I handled it, even when she was bagged up hard. She was completely fine with me handling it...

    Maiden Mare Accidentally Killed Foal

My maiden mare had her foal. I had her on camera & sat up for 3 nights straight watching her & checking on her at least every hour (usually a lot more often). When she finally had the baby, she had it outside the range of the camera, so I didn't get out there right away. I went out & checked on...

    Couple of Pedigree Lookups, Plz

Hi Again, Ok, I must be a bit dense here. I signed up with the horsestudbook. But once I log in, I can't find where to plug in a name to look up the pedigree. I clicked on the various menu choices on the left, but those just take me to pages listing whatever they're titled as (breeders...

    Couple of Pedigree Lookups, Plz

Hi All, I'm trying to track down some pedigree info and need a lookup on 2 horses. Both are A/R registered. First one is: (Note, name is different between the registries, but it is the same horse) AMHR: Wooden Nickel's Chief Joseph #36927 A AMHA: Scott Creek Chief Joseph # A 24675 Second...

    Quick Color Question

What color genetics, other than appy and sabino could cause a horse to have mottled skin? Just trying to figure out an odd color of one or my mares. Thanks!

    What color is she?

Thank you all very much for your responses; it's really helped clarify these color things. I really appreciate it!
  15. E

    What color is she?

No, I don't think it's possible that he could be Max. Exp. Sabino. The sire of the colt was a solid Buckskin; no white at all. And neither of the sire's parents (colt's grandparents) had any white. My Mare's (the colt's mother) sire is registered as a B/W Pinto. My mare (the colt's mother)...

    What color is she?

Yes, it is very possible that her sire was a Smokey Black & White. I've never seen him. I was just going off her papers for his color & they list him as a B/W Pinto. Her dam is the only one I've seen & she is a Silver Bay. So my guess is that her dilute gene must have come from the sire's side...

    What color is she?

Thank you for the reply, Jane. I was hoping you'd hop on with some insight; you know all about these color things Good, now I don't have to send in the papers & switch her color again; already did it once & changed her from Sorrel (original owners had her as sorrel) to Silver-Dapple. I felt...

    What color is she?

Actually, something isn't quite making sense to me. Ok, Silver acts only one Black-based horses. It can be carried by red-based, but does not show. Palomino is a red-based horse who has 1 creme dilute gene. Correct? So in her case, she could be either a Palomino carrying Silver, OR she could...
  19. E

    What color is she?

Oh, ok. That makes sense. It would be neat if she carried silver; I've always been a big fan of the silvers.

    What color is she?

Quick update for anybody who might be at all interested. She's not a silver dapple; she's a Palomino. I bred her to a Buckskin last year & a couple weeks ago she had a pretty little completely-pink skinned, pale-blue eyed Cremello colt for me. Somebody (my mare's mom or dad) must be hiding a...
