    Gayle's sudden death

Thank you all for your sweet, sweet thoughts. I, too, think Gayle is loving on all those precious babies who were already at the Rainbow Bridge. Services were yesterday and, of course, a drain on all of us. But the services could not have been more perfect. From the words of our pastor to...

    Gayle's sudden death

It is with a broken heart that I write to tell you that Gayle died yesterday of unknown cause. Kathy and I had gone to Canton yesterday morning and Gayle left afterwards to go into Paris to buy horse feed. He came back and fed these precious little horses that he loved so very much. And he...

    Beet Pulp

Wish we could find a brand of shredded beet pulp that didn't have larger pieces in it - some of them, when soaked, look like a piece of old shoe leather and are just as tough. So I pick through it, dry, then look again after soaking.

I have a real mystery in the barn!

Water buckets usually stay up on the hooks but the 6 month old colt, Cody, likes to scratch his little fanny which makes the bucket sway back and forth and usually spill some water. Last night there was a continual thump, thump, thump coming from the barn. Could see from the window, there was...

yearling filly loves her paste wormer!

We have a yearling who practically chases me across the pen to see if I have another treat of wormer. The 5 day Safeguard dose was like dessert to him. The other yearling, babies and one mare are no problem but not as eager. One mare acts like the devil is coming at her when I start to give...

    Blue Eyes

Gotta love those baby blues. Have a silver dapple mare with blue eyes, her yearling colt has them also. And we have a little sorrel paint filly with a blaze whose eyes are crystal blue.

    Texas/Louisiana check in

Wind and rain here - only about 1-3/4" of that. Not what we expected from all forecasts. But we never thought we be in a tropical storm warning in the Red River Valley. Ha!! Thanks the Lord for sparing lives.

    Hurricane RITA - Help Offered - Check-in

Our church had a special called prayer meeting last night to pray for all in harm's way, and to ask, if it was the Lord's will, that this storm weaken and not cause the impact and devestation of a category 5. Had a weird situation yesterday

Someone in Oklahoma had several minis stolen but with all the publicity regarding the theft, they were returned basically unharmed. There were several suspects, as I understand, and don't know if anyone was charged. The gate was locked and the lock looked undisturbed but the gates looked a...

    REALITY CHECK - KATRINA

Well said shminifancier! We saw people on their roof today tell rescuers that all who "wanted" to be rescued had already left. They are begging people, telling them there will be no power, water, food for months. Lt. Gen Honore in charge of the Guard put it pretty straight. A week ago today...

    Minis rescued

That is so wonderful to hear. Another clip touched us - a helicopter rescue of two men on a roof by Coast Guard, National Guard, Army - not sure who - but all doing great jobs. The basket picked up one man while another waited on the roof with the rescuer and a little dog. My heart was almost...
