    Mini with a pony?

I kept my 14 3 Arabian gelding with my two mini mares for years. Never any probems. It depends upon the horses. The neighbors have a small pony who is kept with a herd of 5 other large horses - both mares and geldings. She is doing fine, too.

    Bargins and good deals

Half Circle Ranch has been the best place for us to get rope halters that are custom tied to fit minis, and they have nice colors, and the service is incredible! Jes Radius does an outstanding job, is friendly, and helps us out with special requests. Great prices, too. I like that place.

Looking for Informaiton on Custom Halters

http://www.monogrammedhorsehalters.com/m8_...=1100&qty=1 I just ordered two halters from this website. They are beautiful and exceptionally well made. On the website you can click on a hrse to change its color and then "try on" different color halters to see how they look. It helped us...

    Need a teacher/trainer in TN

Thank you to everyone who replied to my post about driving and risk assessment! It was a great encouragement. I do want to learn to drive. Can anyone point me in the direction of a good teacher/trainer in the middle/north Tennessee area? I think this would be the best way for me to proceed...

    Dangers of driving-risk assessment

I have been hoping to drive my two minis and have been in the process of training them and searching for the best cart for our purposes. The cart search has been frustrating. And the more I do this, the more I wonder if driving is such a great idea. I used to ride big horses and have had to...

    revisit: pasture size

I also live in TN! and have two miniature horses. I have them on one acre with a three sided run-in shed of about 15 feet wide and 10 feet deep. I hardly have to do any poop pickup since they don't produce that much for that size paddock and they also are very tidy about not messing up the...

Rope Halters just a thought about them

I have used the rope halters and never had a problem. They have to be fitted correctly and that can sometimes be challenging with the minis. They also need to be used correctly. They are a tool, just like everything else. If you don't know how to use it, or are afraid to use it, don't fret...

    Dorsal hitch carts question

Yes, I'm looking at that. A few people seem to think it is unsafe, but others say it is quite stable and lots of fun. It does look like it would be hard to get out of it in an emergency. I wish I could find a way to try these out.

    Dorsal hitch carts question

Ok, I obviously either said something wrong or I'm just missing out on inside information. Apologies if I inadvertantly mis-spoke. Otherwise, I still don't get the joke, but it's ok. I'm still new. And I appreciate the information and advice anyway! I'm trying to decide what kind of cart to...

    Dorsal hitch carts question

Thanks for the feedback. I was wondering why he didn't have much info. on using them for horses, but most everything is on dogs. The horse connection came about from the harness for sale on the tack website. Can I ask a web type question: What does Flames for Joe mean??

    Dorsal hitch carts question

I'm currently researching all the different kinds of carts available for driving. We are not interested in showing or competing so the primary focus is on stability on rough terrain, and safety. Does anyone know much about the dorsal hitch carts? I found this after going to the chimacum tack...

JJay, Thanks so muh for the info. on the breastcollars. And one more question: I currently have a Smartcart but not with the marathon shafts. We haven't used the cart yet. Can you also tell me more about the quick release traces and snaps that you mentioned in your posts? How do they work...

Getting horse used to the breeching

That seems so logical! Thanks! I knew there had to be a way to let them feel the sensation before hitching them up.

Getting horse used to the breeching

I'm new to driving and basically still reading alot and watching alot. One thing has me puzzled. I can imagine how you would help a horse to learn about the shafts and about the sensation of pulling something and about the bit, etc. For the life of me, I can't figure out a safe way to...
