Straining to poop

My 6 months old filly has to strain to pass manure and then it is only a couple of balls. The vet seems to think it may be a constriction in the bowel and if that is the case her prognosis is not too rosy. She suggested soupy feeds, wet hay and psyllium (sp) 2 days a week. Has anyone had experience of this problem? What did you do?

IVe not had personal experience but what is her routine and feed regime?

Is she drinking enough? How long has she been weaned? Perhaps it's stress related some how. Really don't have any ideas, just throwing out things off the top of my head.

I think I'd try wetted feeds everyday for awhile, and see if it helps, if it does, then likely she isn't drinking enough to move things along like it should.
