The information lady at the AMHR office wrote me back and said all I need to do is hand write a note stating that he has passed and on which day. No vet cert. is needed. And if you want the papers back to write that in the note so they can send them back after they are stamped.

I'm so sorry for you loss as well. I just lost my colt to a dog attack on Friday. I wanted to keep his papers so I wasn't going to send them in, but i'm glad to know they will send them back to me.
