What shots do they need, and when? We have the vet out every year to give the bigs their shots, but I didn't know if babies need anything special, like puppies and kittens do?

Sorry to be a pest! I bought several miniature horse books, but it seems most of them focus on grown ones.

Thank you again, wonderful people~!

Babies do need shots and like puppies and kittens they need a booster shot too, I usually do mine 2 weeks after weaning then boost 2 to 3 weeks later.

Visit with your vet about what's needed in your area.... but the basics are found in an "all in one" shot and include Tetanus, Flu, Rhino, Sleeping Sickness. Weanlings should get their first shot between 4 to 6 months of age, with a follow up booster about 3 to 4 weeks later. We prefer to give Prestige V, which is a 5-way shot.
