We went to buy a Christmas tree

and it was freezing raining sleet on me

I was frozen and so was Dan

why did we believe this lousy weather man?

We always take time to pick and choose

Fuss fuss fuss we do get amused.

Stand them up this way and that

Can't decide on the thin one or the fat.

We look at so many, usually take our time

but not today, there's no sunshine

We're shaking and shiverring and frozen to the bone

Just grab a tree quick I want to get home!

"I'm not looking through ten or a hundred and fifteen"

said my teeth chattering freezing young teen

Get any tree and please let's go

Before we get stuck 50 miles from home and it snows

And so this year that's what we did

We rushed our tree purchase quite a bit

We didn't check it out very well at all

and when we got it home it wasn't very tall

And the needles were falling off all over the place

as we rushed it from the truck so fast like a race

the Frasier Fur just didn't have a nice fresh scent

and how much this year did we spend?

So we lugged it in and set it up

and oh brother this tree wasn't fresh cut

it had big gaps inbetween the branches a lot

and bare spots on all sides, yup, that's what we got

It won't stand straight up no matter what we do

it's leaning over to the side because the trunk is crooked too

So Dan said not to worry and it would be ok

like a Charlie Brown tree he giggled as he ran away

Then he came back with boxes of ornaments

to adorn the tree with so many problem-ments

The lights went up and were wrapped round and round

and every last ornament we had was found

On went the tinsel and up went garland too

and so we decorated our tree for this yule

and then the moment of truth when we turned on the lights

even the star on top worked and it was a pretty sight

No one was disappointed and no one was sad

no one said our tree looked too bad

although it's not perfect and does have a tilt

it's our little Christmas tree that wasn't fake built

We sat back and watched it and it really glowed

I wonder where it came from and how long it did grow

But we are not kidding ourselves though we said

we knew when we bought it, this tree was already dead.

That was cute.

Does this just come to you as you write or do you have to think about it a while?

Jo, most of my poems I write in 5 minutes or less.

I just look around and write what I see or am feeling.

THAT was GREAT!!!!!!

I think that I must have done something wrong with my poem on the Miniature Forum, as it has been taken off....?

. I love reading all your poems though, puts me in such a good mood.

Unfortunately this poem is quite true.

So far, no one wants to take a picture of our poor poor tree this year.

It's quite a sad looking tree.
