HUGE wasp??? nest! (pics)

Hey, my husband loves the Hornets Nest. He takes them( when it gets cold out) & stops up the hole, then he Shelacs it. We have one hanging up in the barn. You have to be careful until you get the hole stopped up, to make sure they are all gone. They make a wonderful conversation piece.

I have to say that this was the worst summer I have ever seen for wasps and hornets. We could not walk out the back door of our house without them flying all round us and trying to land on us. It usually doesn't bother me, but because there were so many, I didn't dare move if they landed on me for fear I would bump one and anger it. And the poor hummingbirds were even chased away from the feeder time and time again by huge wasps.

We usually just leave them alone too, but this summer they were just too numerous. Next year I am going to get some of those glass traps that you put the sugar water in and hang up.
