Do stallion's with blue eyes always throw foals with blue eyes? Or can they have some with brown eyes?

I have quarter horses and they also require DNA parent verified test results before breeding, and I was wondering if there was a DNA test for parent verification on minis.

If so, where do you have parent verified DNA done at?

In AMHA:

There is a form requesting DNA testing. You can also check the box for Parent Qualification. Send it in and the AMHA office will send you a "kit" consisting of a DNA request form and a response form. You then pull 50 or so mane hairs and tape them to the DNA form. It goes to the Genetics Lab at Cal Davis. They will send the results to AMHA and, if true, AMHA will put the Parent Qualified seal on the horses papers. Both parents must have their DNA on their registrations at AMHA.

If you have the same DNA markers from all three, it is very easy to see parent qualification. Remember that DNA can only confirm 100% that a foal is NOT the offspring. Proving that it is is only a very high statistically significant probability (99.99+%)

In people blue eyes are recessive. A blue eyed male will always pass the blue eye gene but, unless the female also carries the blue eye gene, you will not get blue eyes.
