This post is to be dedicated to all the fun or good memories you have of Michael that Marty has shared over the years.

BEFORE that terrible day two years ago.

I have three boys myself, so I totally relate to all the stories of dirt, grease, bugs, practical jokes, daring feats attempted, etc. that Marty has shared about Michael (and Dan too). Not sure I could pick one out though to share.

HMMMM.......I'm trying to potty train my two year old and I remembered the other day Marty sharing that Michael used to inspect his poopies and name them. He made a "spider" or a "butterfly" or a "race-car" in the toliet and always was anxious to see what would be next.

I also remember his "old ladyish" white ford escort that was totally uncool and he felt was definitely not a chick mobile because as I recall, he was usually surrounded with super cute "chicks" so I don't think he needed a cool car to attract more.

Mary you have a memory like an elephant. I don't know how you could remember all that.

I think the forum would mostly remember this:

Definately remember the kitten story. Also, it seemed there was always a story of having the neighbor kids, or your kids over for this or that! A young girl who would come in to chit chat often. Always a project going on in the garage. Also, wasn't there a date story of some kind, driving into town in the truck! It seems there was always a struggle when finishing the barn to have help or too much help!

I haven't been here as long as the others, but your stories have been a light in my life Marty.

I just LOVE that pic of Michael with the kitten!!

I remember pictures and stories of the boys helping with fixing fences and spreading "chat" to make paths so Marty wouldn't fall on the ice (again!). What sweet, wonderful, HELPFUL sons they've always been.

I can't think of any specific stories that I remember, but every spring break and summer I looked forward to Marty's stories about the boys and their escapades. They were always some of my favourite posts and behind all the craziness, you always knew that Marty was having fun and loving her boys!

The kitten story, yes, I remember this. I have never heard of anyone who had a way with animals like Michael did.

I remember those freakin' WHITE THINGS!!!!!!!!

Late one night, Marty posted something about the boys seeing the 'white things' again. For some stupid reason I opened the post and read it.....freaked the crap outta me!! I was sitting in front of the computer in the dark.....and I am not one for freaky stories....my mind runs rampant!!! I started hearing things outside...so I shut off the computer, turned on every light on my way up to bed...and slept with my light on (because for some reason, the light will scare them away

).

I will never, ever forget that night!! LOL How freaked out you and the boys were, and how freaked out you made me!! LMAO *sigh* I'm how many miles away?? LOL :DOH!

I didn't know him. But the pictures of those big blue eyes just grab you and draw you in. He seemed like he was such a tender and loving person. I am sooooo sorry I didn't get to share in your joy of knowing such a special boy.

The world can't afford to loose people like Michael.

Hello.

I did not know your son personally, Marty. But I do remember that kitten picture.

I remember seeing that picture, and thinking..."Yeah, I am going to marry someone like him." It was such an outlandish thought...but I swear that is the first thing that popped into my head.

I know that I cannot begin to understand what you are and were going through. But I just want you to know that your family and God are there for you.

God bless, and take care of yourself.

I remember going to visit and Michael being so interested in our motorhome. He and Dan were pretty good at thinking up things to tease me with. They wanted to take us up to the falls but we didn't get there, I think the plan had something to do with a foot bridge over the river waaay up in the air? And Marty what was it about cutting some farts while we were riding around in the truck? They laughed a lot!

They were both great kids and fun to be around.

Well I remember most of the stories the teenagers who refused to go home because Marty's house was more welcoming than their own. The kids eating her out of house and home literally and the cost of feeding the mountain. The stories about Michaels struggle and ultimate victory as he worked to finish high school with grit determination and a mom who was willing to sit and quiz him until he knew what he needed to know and passed those tests with flying colors The news of the boys working on this or that car and making something run when no one else could. Marty's family seems part of mine though we have never met. I have laughed with her about Wal Mart trips and cried with her when things were bad all her stories touch our hearts with joy and sadness.Michaels kind heart working with the church kids and doing Bingo with the old folks so many wonderful stories.
