Day 10 past the surgery day and my little Pecos is doing good. 5 days of complete stall rest with 2-10 minute walks a day. Then on day 6 he was allowed outside in a small pen, about 12x12 with no other horses around for distractions during the day and back into the stall at night. He had 8 pills a day and we finished that today. Swelling is going down and I think all is well.

He is a 3 year old and my first experience with a Crypt. 1 was dropped and the other was way up in the abdomen. So glad to have that taken care of. His personality is changing already. He was kept overnight at the vet clinic where it was done. He had 3 layers of stitches, not sure if that is normal or not.

Sounds like you’re doing a great job! I’m super glad my little mini donk didn’t have any issues like this when we just gelded him. Sounds like a LOT going on! Good luck on your boy healing well!

Update: He is really doing great today! Out all day and out tonight in a run next to his soon to be new friends, 3 other geldings. So happy. So worth the effort to get this done.
