Calculating weight

I have a couple of weight formulas involving length measurement.

Could someone please tell me from where to where is this length measured?

Does that make sense?

If its the formula I know, they say point of shoulder to point of hip (so measurement should be shorter than when you measure for a blanket, which is center of chest, around to edge or center of tail, depending on blanket company). Hpoe that helps, and doesn't make it more confusing.
