AMHR Nationals - Clipping Question

Those of you going to AMHR Nationals, how many days out do you clip and what blade do you use? I was thinking about starting Sunday but I'm afraid they'll be a little too hairy!

This is always a dilemma for me. Do you clip 7 to 10 days out so they have their color and risk a little hairy, or do you clip a few days before and risk a dull color.

I'd prefer to have them clipped as close as possible to when they are showing, as they seem to grow hair FAST this time of year.

Since ours have been clipped all year usually every three weeks, my daughter will clip most of ours two days before they show. Their color won't change that much now. And yes it means she may have to clip a couple of horses twice while we are there.

We clip all day Thursday for youth and amateur and most of the horses have to be clipped again before thier open class.

I would rather forfeit color for a nice clean clip.

Not going to nationals.. but size 10, 1 or 2 days before.. on my blacks

works good & keeps colour!
