Thanks every one for the advise---just got back from visiting the baby and mama and while I was there the foal nursed on her own!!! YEAH!! They said she looks so much better tonight than she did yesterday! She actually started to run after mom! Hopefully she will do okay now. Thanks again

A friend of ours bought a mare less than a year ago, did not know mare was bred....found a live foal with the mare, but foal can't quite get how to nurse. They are able to milk the mare and bottle feed the baby, and they did get some colostrum into the baby also. Any other suggestions on what...

Thanks for the reply. I will try picking their feet out more often, and doing the filing thing too. I think my biggest problem is that I hate seeing them stressed out! I am sure they know that and like a kid, they can use it to get what they want! I can be strong with the kids, need to work...

I have two horses that are very skittish. Trimming hooves seems to be traumatic for them. Has anyone tried any herbal calming treatments? I work with them and can lift their feet, but the whole trimming thing is just so stressful for them. Any suggestions?
