Miniature horse with a swollen pastern and lower leg

I went out to feed my horses the other day and noticed my mini was limping slightly on her right hind leg. I went inside the pen and felt the leg, it is slightly swollen but it is squishy. I really can't tell if it is hot because she has so much hair but i don't think it was. It has been very...

My Mini is favoring her left hind foot

yes i checked her hoof and there was no ice. She favors it but will willingly walk on it, When she is stopped she tilts that foot up. The leg is not really very swollen but running water on it would probably freeze her to death. Its pretty cold here

    Weight And Wormong Question

My 4 year old mare has never ever been fat she is usually on the verge of being skinny because she eats slow and my shetland that she lives with eats fast. This year she is still skinny and i don't get it because i wormed her and she is eating like a cow. Her coat is extremly shiny and otherwise...

    Locking stiffles....

My 7 year old shetland has had locking stifles since he was 3. He did the splits in the mud as far as we can figure out. We could not afford a surgery because no local vets did it and we would have had to drive a 5 or 6 hour (one way) trip with no guarentee of it actually working and a painful...

Product to make horses shed faster?

My horses aren't shedded out yet. I think it's cause it hasn't been very hot yet but i really would like to get the extra hair off of them. One just has fur around her belly but my other need to shed all over. Anything i could put in their feed to help it fall off?

    Just a thought...

I no that a horse is a horse. I wasn't saying that it didn't kill her faol just cause she wasn't a mini. I was just clearing up the confusion, that she wasn't a mini. I just asked a question I didn't ask for anyone to yell at me for my opinion of a vet that has misdiagnosed my mini's before. The...

    Just a thought...

She had a pregnant mare and it lost its foal,it was stillborn and they had a heck of a time getting it out becuase it was so big. The vet told them they lost it because there was fecue grass in her pasture. Is that true? I've never heard that. I think the vet was stupid personally. I read that...

    My mini is acting strange

I'm pretty sure it's not colic. I've seen horses with colic and she doesn't act uncomfortable. She is eating her hay right now still slowly but acted hungry. I gave her some easter jellybeans that she really liked. I definatly think its a teeth thing. I gave them warmed up water the water in the...

    My mini is acting strange

She is eating her hay very slowly and tossing her head and pawing the ground, she looks at me like she's expecting something. She has icky breath. I'm pretty sure it's a tooth problem, but we won't be able to get her to the vet tomorrow. Is there any thing i can do for her? Oh and she seemed...
