Our horses are 3 yrs old but it started with Sir Prize when he was 2 .. We wondering if enviroment has something to do with it .. We have 2 barns for the horses .. The 2 that are effected are located in one barn and the mares in another .. We've checked everything we can think of to no avail ...
Good idea about the vet .. We'll have to give her a call .. Sir Prize is light colored - a golden palamino but Bella is a horse of a "different color" - brown, gray, cream & black so I don't know about the sun .. But at this point we're willing to try anything .. Thanks for the suggestions
Hi ..
I have another mini health question if I may .. We have 2 minis have have deleveloped black scabs on their noses .. We've tried a variety of things suggested by others but nothing is clearing them away completely .. The spots come out once it starts getting warm .. We've been told it was...
Hi ..
I’m hoping the Forum will be able to help me find some information on the process of training a new foal for pet therapy .. Our mares are expecting next Spring and I know that imprinting with them is important from day one (if possible) but I don’t know what else I need to do so that the...
I'm not sure which one they you but I will find out so they never use it again .. We almost lost Sassy last year when she aborted but didn't pass the fetus but went septic instead .
Thanks for the wise advice .. I will report it once I find out who the manufacture is.
The vet was at our farm yesterday & gave both our girls their Spring vaccinations which included the one for West Nile .. It effected Sassy almost immediately .. She became very lethargic and started favoring one side .. She also backed away whenever you tried to go near her .. She was not sure...
We lock our minis up at night too .. We've had a pack of coyotes take down a deer in our driveway .. We have bobcats .. turned out hunting dogs & coyotes & black bear in the area .. I sleep better at night knowing our minis are behind 8 wire electried fence & locked in the barn .. We use fans in...
First off - Happy B'Day Jill from one Cappy to another! What a photo .. What's the story behind it? Too Cool!
You can use our Avitar for our entry .. Love your "style"
We just went thru a very similar thing .. The vet was puzzled until we started going over Cinnamon's daily routine .. To make a long story short we realized Cinnamon had been eating acorns
We have a 200 yr old oak that over hangs the paddock .. We're new to horses so we didn't know acorns could...
Thanks everyone for the great tips .. We tried the salt .. My husband broke off a bit from her salt block & put it in her bucket .. It works
Then we tried the apple juice mixed with the water .. Didn't work as well as the salt
I also wanted to get her to eat her beet pulp which she used to do...
One of our girls gave us a scare this week .. The vet thought she might be starting into colic because of not drinking enough .. BUT we found out that problem had nothing to do with her feeling bad .. Seems they've been eating acorns :DOH! .. We didn't know acorns were a problem .. So now that...
