My husband put TWO awnings on our trailer!
Well...one we had from our old trailer. When we traded it in, the dealer said that the awning wasn't going to add any value, so we kept it. We got it from a local RV dealer for about $700 a few years ago (I think). It is a 17'. Then, we put one on the other side of the "new" trailer (below). When we are at shows, we sometimes put the horses on one side and the carts and us on the other. Ours sound a lot like Dru's, too. And I agree about the roller for the door. We don't have one, and we need to watch getting in and out if we don't have it all the way up.
Ours can be kept on the trailer, or the stakes can be taken off the trailer and set on the ground. I would HIGHLY recommend this option (if it is an option and not like that on all of them.
) Yes, Chad straps the awning down with those screw in dog tie outs and some ratchet straps, but we always put it up in bad winds. We also have clip on awning "deflappers" for the sides. I would say our awning is more secure than an EZ UP canopy. We have one of those, too, and have seen them blow away and get mangled at shows.
This awning I think is 19-20'. (The trailer is 24" on the floor.) Chad mounted the awning over the lights, so we didn't have to move any of them or take them out.
We would love to get one of those screened in rooms for it sometime. We just add a little here and there as we go. (I'd like the farm name on the trailer, too, sometime...all in due time as the Lord provides....)
