Another thought my vet had was that he had heard that the dwarf gene can cause cartilage to continue to grow? This horse has absolutely no signs of dwarfism. Any thoughts on this? Is there a blood test that can be done for the dwarf gene?

I can't imagine that this could be it but thought I would see what others with more dwarf knowlegde thought.

Thanks,

Di

If the mare is not a dwarf herself, then it is not caused by dwarfism. No test for dwarfism as of yet, but there are descriptions for the types that have been 'discovered' so far. For more info on those you can read up on them in the dwarf forum on here.

I should say it is very unlikely it is caused by a dwarf gene if she is a carrier. I am on my phone so can not edit my last post.
