I listened to an interestng program about him on PBS radio yesterday. I remember him best for "Oklahoma Hills Where I Was Born".

He would be 100 years old had he not passed away years ago. But then so would my grandpap who was also born in 1912. Okemah celebrates the Woody Guthrie festival every year in July since that is his birth month. His son Arlo, also a folk music singer, is always a headliner there along with several others. This is a big year since it is 100 years since Woody was born. I have always wanted to go as I love musical festivals whether bluegrass, folk, blues, country, gospel, and just about anything but metal. Definitely on my list of R and R once I am retired.

100??? Wow!!! I admit - I still listen to old recordings of his. What an amazing person and influential contributor to the entire music world!
