Had a colt born out of my light Palomino mare on Wednesday. We were totally surprised with his color. He is so white with just a hint of color on his face, just enough to see a blaze. HE has light blue eyes. Sire is supposed to be a black & white pinto, but has tobemore to get this color. I hope these pics download.

Here he is:

And here is the mare:

And the colt:

Any ideas? I've been told possibly Cremello or Perlino?

I don't know the stallion's bloodlines, but it could be that he is a Smokey Black. If the stallion and mare both passed on a Cream gene, the foal could be a double dilute, which he looks like he is.

The stallion in my avatar is a Smokey Black. It is often impossible to tell by looking.

My vote is for cremello! I think your sire has a dilute gene in him somewhere that paired up with the dams dilute. I had a cremello pinto once where you could just make out the spots, kind of like your little ones face. They got harder and harder to see with time. With the pink skin and blue eyes, I really have to vote cremello! You will know for sure if the pink skin darkens up in the next few weeks. If it stays pink......cremello!

I thought I would add the photos of the baby - not in thumbnail size...

After seeing his pink skin and blue eyes in those new (larger) pics, yes, definately looks cremello! Sire must be a smokey black!

Thanks everyone for your opinions. I have pulled tail hairs and sent them in to be tested. I am hoping for cremello as I would keep him to be a future stallion for us. He is tiny (to me) at 20" at birth, He is full of it though, running all over and bucking. Catching the eyes of thenew fillies born this year too.

I am hoping to know by the end of the week what he is.

Thanks! I dont know why they turned up so small the first time. I'm not used to posting pictures.

Got his test results back today, he came back double dilute for the cream gene (CrCr) and homozygous for the red factor. So that makes him Cremello. We are very excited! I cant wait for him to grow up so we can use him for breeding.
