Do any of you take your minis to nursing homes, children's hospitals, etc.? Questions.

I really want to get into taking my mini into nursing homes and children's hospitals this year. He has a great temperament - so that's a good first step. He is two years old. Curious as to what your experience has been doing this type of thing. Mostly interested in hearing about the most...

    Moving from pasture to hay

Do I need to worry about moving my mini from pasture to grass hay? My bigger horses go directly to it, but not sure about a mini. I'm thinking this may be a good thing to do with my mini so I can better control his intake and rule out digestion issues. Thanks!

Concerned about Mini and intestinal issues

I've had my mini for about a year (he's a yearling) and about a month ago his abdomen seemed to get quite large and he has had diarrhea on and off (his stool is normal, but has a leaky, very watery manure that just runs out randomly). Clearly, there is some digestive upset. He has been on...

How to determine the correct weight for my mini.

I adopted a mini in June and at that time he was 6 months old and 144lbs. We recently had him gelded and at that time he was 180lbs at 10 months old. He has grown taller and filled out, which he needed to do since he received a body score of 3 when I first got him (still boney in his ribs and...

Pics of my new mini! Now I have questions!!!

I adopted this mini "Pico" from the animal welfare place that I volunteer. He is approx. 8-11 months old, from what they can tell. He has adjusted super well and is eating, drinking, peeing, pooping, everything looking good. I basically started feeding him what I give my horses - good quality...

My first Mini - can you help me get started?

I am adopting an 11 month old mini. He is currently a stallion - due to be gelded this week before coming to my place. I already own horses, have had two shetland ponies in the past, but never a mini. I already know I'm going to treat him as one of the horses - meaning he's not coming in the...
