    From a buyers prospective

GrandmaCm, I agree with you. I find looking for a miniature horse to be frustrating. Fortunately, I have managed to deal with a few people who are very easy to work with. Those sellers that irritate me lose a sale to me.

Needing pictures of stalls in your barns

I'm with you. New barns are nice but the older barns are where the comforts at. For some reason I feel an older barn is more cozy (at least for me). Our barn is an old dairy barn, we have a great time building the stalls, you can't prefab anything because every piece of wood seems to need a...

UPDATED w_info from AMHR - AMHR Registration questions

The thing is that if you're new to mini's and the registration process, then how would you know if the paperwork you're getting is exactly what you need and how would you know a reputable breeder from a non-reputable breeder? You can do your research but websites and the information available is...

    AMHR registration questions

Thank you! I was really getting stressed out thinking I might have problem's getting Humble registered in my name.

    AMHR registration questions

When I bought Humble the seller/breeder gave me a bill of sale and signed the back of the temporary registration under the Record Of Transfer column. I had not questioned this before but recently I bought AMHA and AMHR horses and got tranfers with them. Now I am wondering if the seller/breeder...

    Clampets or Jeffersons?

I would agree with you that it may promote more traffic or faster speeds - BUT - in our case it wouldn't as this is our own private property - it is our driveway on our farm off of the main road. The only traffic we get is our own visitors or our own vehicles. The road in these pictures is our...

    Clampets or Jeffersons?

I could go for a paved driveway but I love dirt roads; I travel them all the time. The road I live on is paved, the speed limit is 35 but most people travel 55 to 80 MPH or more. One thing we know in New England is that a dirt road that is paved brings more and faster traffic.

Ginger used to make tails higher ?

I thought for sure when I opened ythis thread I would be reading about an old wives tale that if you fed a pregnant mare some ginger that her foal would be born with a tail that sat higher on its back. I was surprised! I have never heard of gingering a horse to make its tail stand up. I guess I...

What would you do in this situation ...

I would think the honest thing for her to do would be to refund some money to you.

    Keeping Registry information current

When you're new to registered horse you don't know what to look for to make sure you're able to get the horses registered in your name. I wish there was a booklet available to breeders to give to buyers that gave clear instructions on how to go about registering horses such as the paperwork you...

    backyard horses

My version of "Backyard horse" is different. To me a backyard horse is a grade horse that is used for pleasure riding. It is often an animal that gets a lot of attention and tends to be a little spoiled. The vet is called if the horse sneezes. The farrier is at the farm on a regular schedule. A...

    Princesa

Mel and Jenny, I'm sorry that you lost Princesa. I know what you're going through, the vet had to put our pony down yesterday because of ruptured intestine. George

    Gold Seal Miniature Horse Registry

I'm lucky, I ended up not paying too much for the Gold labeled mare. I had someone offer to buy her two days after I got her but we like her so decided to keep her for driving. If I'd paid $1,500 for her I might be upset but don't know for certain since to me an animal, registered or not, is...

    Gold Seal Miniature Horse Registry

I'm sure there were a lot of red faces but it all worked out for everyone. I've been to a lot of auctions in my life and I have never had anyone check to make sure what I was taking was what I bought. I think in most cases people wait till the end of the auction and everyone goes to the pens at...

    Gold Seal Miniature Horse Registry

The story on the basically non registered mare. My neighbor and friend went to the New Holand PA sale. He called to tell us that there was a beautiful AMHA/AMHR mare due to foal in Sept and wanted to know if we wanted her. We trust him and his girlfriend very much so told him yes (his...

    Gold Seal Miniature Horse Registry

I didn't think the papers meant much. The good news is the mare is beautiful, drives and was bought cheap; a friend bought her for my partner and I.
