    Non-member AMHA registration

Is it possible to register a yearling filly if I'm no longer a member of the AMHA? I am no longer breeding and all of my mares are permanently registered. I have one filly from last year that I failed to register while I was still a member. I turned in the stallion report so there's no problem...

    Appaloosa Breeding

I have a mare who has a lot of appaloosa in her pedigree. However, she has no obvious appy characteristics. It seems that I read somewhere that a horse that displays no characteristics can't give birth to an appy foal. If anyone can help me out with this, I'd appreciate it. If anyone knows of a...

    Paperwork for Sales to Canada

I hope to be selling to foals to a buyer in Canada. My vet said that I need to send the coggins results and health paperwork to the USDA in order to receive the international health paperwork needed to cross the border. The buyer says that her shipper just picks up the horses with the coggins...

    Cannon Bone measurement

I know that measuring the cannon bone is a great way to predict height. Where, exactly, do I measure? Do I just measure the cannon bone itself or from knee to coronet band? And then, what is the formula to predict height? Have you found this to be an accurate method of telling mature height?

    Brewers Orion Royale

I posted this about a year ago with no luck. Thought I'd try again.... Does anyone have, or know of, a picture of Brewers Orion Royale? The AMHA Studbook says that he's owned by TL or Mary Jane Sprague of Sprague's Mini Farm. Any leads would be appreciated!

    Lime in Run-in Shed

We have put a layer of ag-type lime (crushed limestone) in our mini's run-in shed. I have fed them in there in the past, but am now concerned that the lime may cause colic like sand colic. Does anyone know if the lime will cause colic problems? I don't really want to just take a chance and see...

    Red Roan Show Horses

Thank you for the pictures. Are red roans not real common or are they just not as desirable for showing and breeding? I guess part of that might just be an opinion.... I think these posted horses are beautiful--even if not in show condition!

    Red Roan Show Horses

I can't seem to find pictures of any true red roan show horses--darker red legs and heads, lighter body. I would like to see red roan horses conditioned for show; they don't have to be champion horses, but I'd like to see show-shape photos. I will be buying a red roan stallion who is quite out...

    Clipper Comparison

Thanks for both answers and especially for posting the pictures. Did you do all of the clipping with just one set of blades or did you have to replace the blades? I always hear that you have to bathe the horse before clipping or the blades will get dull immediately. I always picture going...

    Clipper Comparison

Wahl KM-2 clippers seem to be basically the same as Oster Turbo A5. Does anyone have experience with either or both, or am I looking at the wrong kind of clipper? I will mainly be clipping foals. I want quality without a huge price tag! Thanks for your input. Cindy
