Bay horse born looking VERY sorrel

I was of course referring to the fine hairs of the muzzle, which I have found to be dark in bays and not so in sorrel. I encourage you to post any pics and genetic testing you have so we can all benefit from each others genetic testing.

Black (Ee, EE) verses Red (ee)

Now that we can easily and inexpensively determine the genotype of a horse, I would love to see other peoples pics of their genetically tested horses. Phenotype (what color they look like) isn't always easy to determine in miniatures and I would sure welcome input from everyone who has tested...

Bay horse born looking VERY sorrel

I don't want to steal the thread, so I am going to post a new one and maybe we can get people to post pics of their genetically tested bay vs sorrel so we can all compare. I love the genetics of these fabulous (confusing) little horses!!!! take care.

Bay horse born looking VERY sorrel

Lots of good comments and only goes to show how difficult it is in the miniatures to determine color. Bay horse born looking VERY sorrel

I've had the same thing happen and after experience, reading, and genetic testing the best indicator I have found is the fine hairs of the muzzle. I can't tell for sure about your baby pic, but in retrospect mine had very small amount of dark color around the muzzle. It is my understanding...

    I am having a hugh

It is tough times and tough question. I think everyone has an individual answer. I feel that if you can produce a quality product and have a market for that product then go right ahead. Most people are going to internet advertising now to sell their horses as a lot of "local" markets have...

    Canon Bone Measurement

I appreciate all the help. I am about to make my first big purchase in the miniatures. He is a beautiful little few spot colt, but he is only a few months old and of course I am nervous paying out this much money for him not knowing for sure what I will get as he grows. Anything specific I...

    Canon Bone Measurement

I'm new to mini's and expecting my first foal any day. Everyone talks about the canon bone measurement in predicting adult height. How do you take the measurement? How do you do the calculation? Is this a very accurate way to predict adult height? Thanks for the help
