I seperated her 6 month old foal a week ago..The Dam is still not dried up! how long does it usually take?

It can take awhile--after just a week I wouldn't expect to see any mare be actually dried up, but she should have less milk/smaller bag than she did in the first couple days? Her bag shouldn't be as full and swollen as it was 24-48 hours after you took the foal off her, but certainly there will still be milk there, possibly quite a bit of it yet.

Just be sure you do NOT "milk" anything from her. (Some people do.)

What also speeds the drying up is NO grain and NO pasture for a couple of weeks or at least until her bag is obviously smaller.

I have a mare that her last foal was 4 years ago and she still has a bag. I think she would take a foal too.
