OK-This is my second litter and it it is WAY TOO COLD to take them out for any length of time. SO how does everyone handle all the poop once they have been weaned? I am cleaning it up every hour, and It is impossible to keep sheets or puppy pads down because thy rip them to shreds! I am using mats with rubber lining but feel I am swimming in poop!! Any suggestions-what do you do???

P.S. I have 19 pups!! It is two litters together!

We used the outside play area pens (made with panels that fold) and set them on linoleum bought at the dollar store. Then we put newspaper that the general store down the road set aside for us. We picked up the newspaper each time we saw a mess and replaced it. As the puppies got older we picked up the paper in part of the pen and let them on the linoleum and the paper. If we were in the pen and saw them going we would move them to the paper and they soon learned to use the paper to potty on. So when they went to their new homes they were paper trained. Unprinted newsprint is the best. I used to purchase it at the local newspaper but used some of the printed when we moved and it was unavailable.

I never had that many pups. I bet it does keep you busy.

What i do is have a linoleum (or waterproof base) usually. Then i get big stacks of news paper from our local dump (they just let you take them for free). I just do many layers of news paper. as the pups get older they tend to tear some of it up but where i do several layers there is usually a layr or two left at the bottom. I layer the papers in a circular manner so they overlap. a ll i have to do is pick up a corner and roll in a circular motion and the whole thing will come up. then i just shove it in a garbage bag and take it to the dump. unfortunatly there's no way to cut down on the poop overall and you will always have poop. several of my litters have been 13 pups (in one litter

Do you live in a town where they have a newspaper. If the newspaper prints it's newspaper they have nice big rolls of paper called end rolls. These are the rolls that are close to the end and the pressmen do not want to take a chance of the paper running out. Hence, the term end rolls. We give them out at our newspapers but even if they charge you it would be very minimal. They are terrific to use as there is no newspaper ink and the puppies stay much cleaner.
