Well, even though it was not asked for, I'll give you my opinion anyway.

: I think for your avatar, I would go with the last one. The narrower the pic, the better it shows, because there is a restriction of the width, so a narrower pic always keeps the image bigger. Actually, I will resize it to the correct size for you and upload it here. Hang on a minute...

OK, I'm back. Here are the actual sizes if those pics were used as your avatar, so now you can see why I chose #3.
