Someone mentioned giving Zantac to my boys who will be transported 1000 miles. They are about 100 lbs and 170 lbs. How much do I give and just initially, or should they have it the whole trip and how often? Thank you,

I give my 225 lb. 34" mare 1 Zantac (75 mg.) in a 24 hour period. I'm sure others will have information to share, too.

I had two foals on it two years ago and was told two tablets up to twice a day- I queried the amount and was told it works differently in horses- they need a higher dose. I think you need to ask a Vet- it is pretty mild but no point in overdosing.

I asked the vet today and based on their weight and his vet book, said for the smaller 1/3 of a 75 mg tablet and 1/2 for the bigger guy, twice a day until they are on solid ground. Thanks guys.
