What are your 5 favorite scary movies of all time? Looking for some good exciting thrillers. They don't have to be gory to be a great scary movie. Which ones do you like to watch and have watched time and again?

Please share!!!!

1. The Exorcist

2. Poltergeist

3. The Last House on the Left

4. Pandorum (in theatres last year and for some odd reason, it didn't get a lot of press...it's awesome)

5. The Shining

The House of Wax......an old Vincent Price movie. Don't know how scary it would be to an adult but it scared the devil out of me as a kid.

Some movies that I thought were scary:

The Haunting in Connecticut

Wolf Creek (so gory but I thought very scary)

28 Days Later

Dawn of the Dead (new version actually)

The Exorcist

The some "funny horror" movies that were SO good:

Fido

Zombieland

Shaun of the Dead

Have fun!!!!

The Grudge

Amityville horror (sp??)

Silent Hill (though there is a SMIDGE of torture in this one and I dont like that part - the monsters are awesome!)

Resident Evil (especially Res Evil 2! - love that one)

I also love Zombieland!

My daughter likes Stay Alive,One missed call,we second Amittyville. The covenent is an amazing movie. But its not really scary, it's more suspenseful.Have a good movie night!

THE best movie of ALL TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!

Night of the Living Dead

Not the stupid new ones, but the black and white one. Watch it over & over and you will see more of it's layers.

And Psycho the real one, not the stupid re-make.

Not scary, but one of my fav movies is Beetlejuice!

Both those were REALLY good.

PS Mary -- neat thread!!!

Hate scary movies, so don't watch them; but do get a kick out of some of the spoof type ones: Shaun of the Dead, Beetlejuice.

"1408" - with John Cusack. Awesome movie!!!

"Orphan" - Don't know if this would be categorized as scarey, but it def was awesome.

"A Perfect getaway" - Is another good one.

"Shutter"

Haute Tension (incredibly gory, deeply disturbing, utterly terrifying)

Silent Hill (you will never, ever want to go to West Virgina, ever again... although very much a "DON'T OPEN THE DOOR")

The Descent (you will never ever want to go rock climbing ever again)

Wolf Creek (you will never, ever want to go on a roadtrip, ever again)

Open Water (okay, not technically "horror", killed any desire I might have to go scubadiving)

Thank yoooou for all the suggestions. Went shopping last night, came out with 15 movies, my lucky number! Ha

Watched 2 last night, Silent Hill, oh yeah very scary, interesting ending! They were dead!

And

Shaun of the dead ohhhh to funny. I loved the musical scene where they were beating the pub owner with the pool sticks hahahahaha.

I also got 28 days later, 28 weeks later, 4 Resident Evil movies to watch back to back, the Grudge 1 and 2.

13 Ghosts and the old black and white Night of the living dead.

I also got the 1st Alien and The Thing with Kurt Russell.

The grand finally Its Alive.

I will be completely freaked out after all these, LOL.

Still got a few more to get that I saw, glad most of these were pretty cheap too.

Not really a fan of scaries but last week just happened to watch HOSTEL on tv. It was followed by HOSTEL 2. Graphic and gutty! And probably rated R. Into the first few minutes I thought it was porn.

Anyway, the first one lured me in and found myself really "into" the second one hoping "justice would prevail". Sure changed my view of the hostels along the trails here. If I get back to backpacking I will make sure my axe and knife are sharp

If you must watch be sure and have both movies!

The Strangers

Pet Cemetary 1 & 2

Grace

The Unborn

The Boogey Man

Lots of good ones out there!

I really hate scary movies. But, here is what I came up with;

1) He knows your alone

2) Amity ville Horror

3) Halloween

4)

Well, I guess thats about all I can come up with because I just don't watch them. Also, if you will notice mine are all the '70's-'80's pictures. I just don't watch them.

The Skeleton Key

I watched the ending of this movie, and NO WAY will I watch the whole movie, totally scary. Just the ending gave me nightmares!!! You can still catch the movie trailer on your web search.

Im not one for scary movies, cuz I get too freaked out for DAYS afterwards, but will mention the scariest movie I ever saw.....IT ahhhhhhh, freaked me out and still does to this day. I was 6 years old, and should have never watched it. To this day everytime I go into the washroom I open up the showercurtain, over 10 years later!
