I'm sure this is a strange request, but I have several VHS tapes of family members that have since passed away, and some of my kids when they were really young that I would like transfered to DVD. Does anyone have a clue as to how to do this? Or do you know of somewhere I can take them to have this done? Thanks in advance.

I used to do this all the time. What you need is a regular vhs player (You can use a dual vhs/dvd player) AND a dvd recorder (I got mine at Walmart). You have to hook up the vcr going in to the dvd recorder instead of the tv. Pretty easy unless you removed the little tab from your vhs tapes making it impossible to record over them. Then you'd have to put a piece of clear tape over that hole before recording off of it. Also make sure you hit record on the right remote/machine, so you dont record over the vhs.
