Thanks!

I love my horses dearly and they are my first passion, however when I am inside I love my snakes!

I am totally in love with this cage unit also. I purchase it just over a year ago, around that time my collection was at I believe 6 or 7.. then it grew to 15.. It was SO worth the thousands I spent on it. Each cage unit as it's own heating pad complete with thermostat.

Oh and to add in the photo of Rosenthal.. We DO NOT let our snakes free roam.. We just put him on the floor for the pic and to measure him since he was just a baby when we purchased him. Added, our small dogs were also locked in our bedroom..

With snakes remember to practice safety first. Our small dogs are not allowed to step a paw in the snake room AND we keep the door closed if we are not in there. Whenever we have a large snake out for handling our dogs are locked in another room.. No room for error. Oh and we wash hands before handling.

What are your plans for these snakes as they mature?

snakes freak me out and give me nightmares...but I love your set up...i am glad that someone like snakes for pets...

I prefer stuff with fur! LOL

Obviously, before purchasing the snake(s) themself(ves) we planned to be able to house them once mature also. We already plan to add another cage unit similar to what's above in another spare room also. We also are designing blueprints with a herp specialist to make an actual 'building' outdoors to house the larger ones when they are too large to keep in the current cages (even once cages are expanded). This building will obviously be fitted with all of the ins and outs.. indoor sink and temp. control, etc.. I am always willing to put out funds into my passions.. ESP. since oneday I hope to move all of the snakes into their owning 'building' and turn the spare rooms into my future children's room.. LOL Years down the road, however..

Far too many people purchase snakes and don't have a clue with what they're getting into! Same for most animals, actually..

No worries.

I have to say I am with some of the other people that have posted... Snakes give me the willies

But I do like your set up and you have some nice looking snakes for sure... I don't mind the reptile house at the zoo because I know they are behind glass.. Same as I don't mind looking at the pictures of them but if I were to run into one in my yard I can guarantee I would let out a "yelp/scream" and run as fast in the opposite direction as I could -- haha...

They are beautiful, and they look so shiny and healthy. That is a very nice setup. I'm always amazed at how large some of these snakes can get... My daughter had a little garter snake for several years and I really enjoyed holding her (once I got used to the concept!) but I think I'd be pretty nervous around the big guys. Thanks for sharing!

Two things.....You need to look up Cherryville Farms, they bred my driving mini....I think they are reptile dealers! Pretty interesting!

The other is a question.......Do snakes kept as pets need exercise? I see them mostly in set ups like yours and they just sit there soaking up the warmth, then they eat something and rest...............How do they not get fat?

I can speak for us, not others -- our snakes are in cages large enough for their size.

Our Green Tree Pythons even have their own separate housing unit that's not connected and that is taller than longer since they are aboreal.

We change and / or move different items in their housing since they LOVE to explore their 'new' surroundings. However, example my BRB's rarely move from under their log or moss unless it is time to eat or for handling.

The larger snakes we do take outside when it is warm and let them slither in the grass.... and we are right there to grab them at all times.

We handle them several times a week (except a few days after feeding).... just to 'chill'..

We feed them amounts based on the time of year, temps, etc. Unless you power feed it hard to make a snake "fat". Just as anything else.

Our snakes with the exception of 2 are tame for handling..

Love your set up and your snakes are beautiful!!! I love snipers face the best!!!

My big sis and her idiot husband (ec now) had a very large albino reticulated python, Who escaped its cage. They lived in NJ and they figured it would not last through the winter so being @ssholes they just forgot about it. Well, the snake had other plans, and moved happily into a neighborhood tree. A women would call the cops ect all the time saying there is a huge orange snake!!!! but noone believed her, it was Jersey after all. This went on for at least 1 whole winter/summer/fall period. One day, some cop came out and sure enough there was a gigantic fat and happy snake in her yard!! The snake was caught and placed in a zoo called Popcorn Park which is an awsome place. Thankfully that was their last snake.

Love the set up! I would like to have a snake some day, but they still kinda freak me out.

I've always liked the killer bee ball python

You obviously have a well planned program with your snakes and the set up is awesome! Probably a silly question.....from reading all the other posts I take it that the green one sitting on the branch is a Python? Why the different face shapes? Is it because of the things they need to eat? Do you mostly have pythons? Have you ever been bit by any of them?

Hi there!
default_saludando.gif

Yes , the green one on the branch is actually Sniper, a Green Tree Python. In another picture he is pictured with his mate Zajonc - however when that picture was taken Sniper was actually the yellow one!! Both were yellow when purchased and now at not much over a year old they started to go through their color change. The babies vary from maroon, yellow of sorts and change with color. There are also many designer color moprhs; just as with the ball pythons pictured, etc.

Pythons generally have the same type of head, same for boas.. king/ratsnakes, etc. each family is similar however with any breed the body types vary.. as do their housing, temperment, etc. etc.

Oh yes, I have been bitten by quite a few of them.. It doesn't phase me though.. I am careful, but accidents happen. Koffka decided it would be fun one night to attempt to swallow my partner's thumb..
