Spiders

Check your buildings this time of year for black widow spiders. We found two in one of our shelters. A visitor was looking at the construction of the shelter and noticed them. My horses stand in there every day, but I don't generally go inside. I shudder to think if one had rubbed against the spider.

Thankfully we don't have those around here. We do have some brown spiders (recluse? maybe? I forget and I'm going to look it up) that have a nasty bite. I had a pony get bitten by one once or twice and I did too. Gave me nasty infection on my scalp that took months to fully heal.
Where were the spiders in the shed? Near the floor?

We have black widows everywhere here! I was out there with the shop vac getting all the webs the other day. I have never had a horse get bitten that I know of. We are more concerned about Brown Recluse spiders. My brother in law had a bad experience with a bite last year.
