In the pickup today I heard what I think would make a cute liberty piece for my daughter but dang if I can remember what the title is.

(heaven help the spelling but it goes)

Ba Ba Ba Baboperen

It's an older song and her gelding has fantastic chin popping movement...when he's so inclined. I still have to come up with something for my sons gelding. Anyone knows what would suit a fat gelding that will most likely run around just trying to snatch the grass along side the ring?

Are you referring to Barbara Ann by the Beach Boys? I do think that would make a cute little liberty song. How about "Gone Fishin'" for your fat gelding? Either the Louis Armstrong or the Brad Paisley one--both are all about kicking back.

That was funny! Not laughing "at" you........really!

It reminded me of a friend of mine who swore the Creedence Clearwater Revival song went

"There's a bathroom on the right" when it was really.."There's a bad moon on the rise"

(still giggling
)

Ba Ba Ba Baboperen
...it will never again be Barbara Ann for me!

I had a daughter, who at the ripe old age of 5, loved Rock and Roll.......her favorite was: "Stand on the Rug" which was really "Band on the Run".

Some of these are just too funny. My favorite is "He's a 30 watt bulb". Glad I provided the amusement for the day.

I've seen a lot of misheard lyrics. There are sites dedicated to them. The one that always comes up here is "Secret Asian Man" instead of "Secret Agent Man"

None of us made it- but it's become an amusing conversation piece.

I mishear lyrics all the time, sadly, because of the way my hearing is. Apparently the right side ear picks up on accents and such (explains why I have a BAD time with strong accents, too), while the left picks up more on musical tones and the like. Oh I hear the beautiful music just fine... the lyrics are a jumble though! Once I look them up, I'm good. I use www.letssingit.com for that.

Marty... Beach Boys ROCK. My mother or sister (Can't recall which) had a boxed set back in the mid to late 90's that had that practice session (or another one) on one of the CD's. We loved it. We'd be belting out Beach Boys lyrics while we cleaned house. I still have them on my Winamp playlist >.> Such a wonderful sound... and I love any episode of Full House they were on, of course

Too funny!

I remember back when I first heard Garth Brook's song "Beaches of Cheyenne" I mistook the lyric : "When he told her he was ridin'" for......"When he told her he was ROTTEN'". :DOH!

I used to have a website bookmarked of mondegreens,, or misheard lyrics.

Edited:

Here's one:

http://www.kissthisguy.com/

A couple of favorites

"Hold me closer, Tony Danza

Count the head lice on the highway"

(should be:

"Hold me closer, Tiny Dancer,

count the headlights on the highway")

Another, from Jimi Hendrix:

" 'Scuse me while I kiss this guy"

(should be: "Scuse me while I kiss the sky")

Elton John is guilty of many mangled lyrics, including

from Benny and the the Jets:

I thought he sang

"She has electric boobs, her ma has two"

(It's supposed to be "She has electric boots, a mohair suit..."

and one that I swear nobody could hear correctly without a lyric sheet:

It's supposed to be

"Daniel you're a star in the face of the sky,"

but even knowing that, I don't know what it sounds like!

That's how I sung it when I was young!!! LOL!!!

Also sang "A white sports CAR and a pink carnation"

My sister sang "I'm a girl WATCH IT" ;)

Jessi

LOL I sing "Secret Asian man" for fun but I've always known it's agent

One my friend likes to laugh about, I thought it was

"It's like RED on your wedding day" (instead of rain lol!)

Then there's the takeoff on Barbara Ann

Bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb Iran

Also the old Roy Orbison hit Phony Baloney (Only the lonely)

or Brenda Lee singing about It's just part of the ying yang (being young)

Ahh, the old songs that had real meaning

How fun! My dad thought Cindi Lauper's song was "They test the water, they test the water" instead of "They just wanna, they just wanna" in her Girls Just Wanna Have Fun. That made me laugh.

The first few times I heard Garth Brooks's "Shameless" I couldn't figure out why he was singing about shaving, "Cuz I'm shaving".

Disney soundtrack anyone, Little Mermaid was singing about topics way beyond Disney when she sings "Pregnant women, sick of swimming" (Supposed to be "bright young women")

And my favorite, when trying to come up with a flashier name for our pony named Shadow I got so excited and said, "How about Shadow Dreams like in the song?" Hubby says, "What song." I reply, "You know (singing of course) Shadow Dreams, shadow dreams, nothing like shadow dreeeeeaaammms." He laughs, "It's SHATTERED dreams." ooops, huh - oh well!
