Well Sandy is taking lessons from Bonny!!! Her udder is back like it was, swollen in front, small in back.

With that said I can see her tail area getting much looser, her tail head is showing more. And there is almost no resistance in lifting her tail!!!

Today we had a pretty mild day but miss Sandy is sweating...If you look back at the pics you can see sweat around her tail area and her udder area.I know it was just this warm the last few days and she didnt sweat. hmmm.

So I wonder if thats anything or maybe if she is in early labor? Maybe if she is her bag will fill quickly?

Her is her tummy today":

Maybe her vulva is longer?

Boy she sure is getting big!!! Her vulva looks elongated but I don't have any before pic to judge against...as far as the sweating...?????

Ok she is better this am. But there are some changes. I suspect her discomfort last night was the foal positioning. She is less wide this am:

Her hips are very sunken in today:

Her udder is fuller again this am. And her tummy is still low.

OH Bonny...I so feel your pain. My girl looked even more ready than yours and went another month before foaling......These girls can drive us crazy!!

Good luck!!

Just wanted to ad....you take great photos!!

Bonny, you're doing an awesome job! Yes, these mares are rediculous to try to pinpoint when they are about to go into labor, but she sure is moving forward!

You'll be the best Grammy, Bonny!! It won't be long now!

Thanks yall. I am really enjoying having these minis. They are such a nice addition to Bonny. They are so sweet and gentle.

Its funny because before I was worried about Bonny, now I am so much calmer and I understand much better. I am enjoying the minis and not worrying.

Lisa, when exactly is your mare due?

Is she still swollen in the front not the back? Any swelling in the back at all?

Just curious, How many of yall have had mares that bagged in the front first then later in the back?

By front I mean front of the teats and back as in behind the teats.

Sandys is very full in the front. Less full in the back.

Ok advice needed here!

Sandy has been laying down starting from early this am. She gets up and moves around then lays back down. I have heard gut sounds and she has pooped a lot in her stall. Not cow patties.

But her udder is bigger. She is walking very slow. Should I keep her in her stall? Or should I let her out and watch her close?

I am not sure.

this is her udder

the 'bagging up' in front of the udder is usually called edema (sp?), not really the bag getting fuller, just nowhere else for the excess fluids to go, kinda like women getting swollen ankles. The best way to see how big her bag is too is from the back from between the legs. Its easier to see how full the bag really is. Also the teats themselves usually are not touching when they're close to foaling. I took a million pics of my maiden mare that foaled this April and kept a daily journal. If you'd like to see some of my pictures, email me privately.

Thanks!

She is off by herself in the pasture, I put her out after her nap. She is grazing. I will be watching her close. She is walking kind of strange. Maybe the foal was sitting in a bad position and she was trying to move it.
