Since both "kids" have lost a few pounds ( boy do I wish it would come off me that easy) we decided to do a mini photo shoot this evening. Mind you it was in the high 80 with what seemed like 100% humidity, and neither have seen the show ring in years. Both still need to lose a considerable amount of weight, but I think they are coming along nicely.

Continued success in getting the weight off your 2 kiddos.

Our guy Saber was a hefty meatball when we got him

(if you'd like to see I have a pix of him from last year & could post it)

and now you'd never know he had been a chunky monkey.

This is what Saber looked liked the day after he came into our care.

(He's wearing the halter he came with - the one I had gotten him was too small)

This was mid August 2007

and this was him 7 months later (late March 2008)

The day we picked him up we could tell he was being heavily overfed because he was excreting like a full sized horse in size & quantity.

With reduced meals, apples & carrots (including tops) as snacks in the middle of the day,

evening psylium and going places for walks for exercise (and later Saber playing with the Danes too)

we were able to trim him down pretty easily.

The going places kept all of us from getting bored and was enriching.

From this we really got to see what a stable & clever guy Saber is.

wow. what a difference! He went from looking like a fat pony to a true miniature horse.

You are lucky your danes like him. My dobes want to eat the horses ( I think they think they are deer)

Very pretty horses and they look quite happy and healthy. You are doing just fine.

It took me the better part of a year to get the weight off of one of my little ones. Never dropped the grain, just controlled the grass with dry lotting and hay. It was worth it because now she looks wonderful.

Your stallion has quite the neck on him!

I love him though. He will look amazing as soon as the weight shifts.
