Hi All,

Ribbons for Linda is a non-profit organization created in memory of Linda Best. Linda was a great wife, kind mother, dear friend and amazing horse woman. In the spring of 2008, she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Sadly, even though Linda fought valiantly she lost her battle to this horrible disease in May 2009.

Pancreatic cancer is the fourth most common cause of cancer death in the US. Ribbons for Linda dedicates its efforts to help raise awareness and understanding about pancreatic cancer, a disease that continues to be one of the most fatal and least funded of all cancer types.

A Benefit Horse Show for full size and miniature horses will be held on October 10, 2010 at 9:00 am at the Cumberland Fairgrounds in Cumberland, Maine. Missy Tansey graciously volunteered to be our judge for the day. This will be a laid back fun show. The cost will be $25 per horse/handler combination for unlimited classes.

Please let us know in advance if you will be attending by emailing [email protected] so we will have plenty of food. On the morning of the show, clipboards will be posted for you to sign up for your classes. All proceeds will go to research for pancreatic cancer in Linda’s memory. This will be a fun day with great people coming to support this important cause. For more information visit our website listed below.

Hi,

RFL hosted this benefit show the last two years with huge success! Everyone really had a great time. I think this year we will have a bigger response now that it has been opened up to both big horses and miniatures.

There are a few things we do need for the upcoming horse show. Obviously, the less expenses we have, the more profit we will have to give to this great cause.

Class Prizes - They do not have to be horse related, for both adults & children.

Prepared food for lunch break. We do not have a kitchen facility to use. We do plan on serving hot dogs, chips, baked goods, soda, coffee & water. Any other items would be greatly appreciated.

A photographer to volunteer their time would be awesome!

Sponsors for $10 per class are always welcome!

Please come and enjoy the day with us whether you bring a horse or not. I guarantee you will have a blast and feel great that you helped to support such an important cause!

Thanks!

Sue

Bumping up a great cause for cancer. This is going to be a great fun time. Hope I can make it.

Pancreatic cancer took the life of a wonderful, daughter, wife, mother and great friend to many. Help support the efforts of Mekayla in raising money in Linda Best's name to find a cure one day for this deadly disease.

I'd love to show at the benefit show again, I believe we did it last year and it was wonderful. Is there a height limit on the minis? I'm thinking probably not because it's to benefit a great cause but just checking.

Hopefully I will be there with at least one, maybe two.

Rebecca

Edited to add- Never mind, read the class list and saw 38" minis & under are allowed. Thanks for making it such an open show to all!

This show is going to be a blast! We came up with some really fun classes this year. Marathon Madness should be hysterical. This will be a very laid back show without having to worry about show clothes, clipping etc and just hanging out with friends and their horses!
