I am looking into purchasing a amha stallion and my mares are all amhr, can the babies be registered amhr or do I need to hardship stallion to amhr? Can't remember how this works and the prices would like to stay in the amhr registry.

Yes, you can hardship in as a three year old, pay the appropriate fee for a stallion, send in a copy of his AMHA papers with your AMHR work order form.

I too bought a stallion that is only AMHA registered - I called AMHR and the hardship fee is $450

I just checked the current AMHR Work Order Form and it's $400 to register a stallion from AMHA and $200 to register a mare or gelding from AMHA. Ouch! So glad I got all my breeding horses double registered last year!

Wish I had done it earlier too. I sold a stallion as double registered and when I went to sign and send his paperwork, found that I had FORGOT to register him AMHR. Cost me $450
