I was told yesterday by a friend of mine that Purina is changing Omolene. You know like they have the 100, 200, 300, now they are coming out with more bags like for senior horses, and I'm not sure what else. They have also added beet pulp into their feed. It is suppose to help horses that need the extra calories like race horses. My friend got this in a email and she is going to pass it on to me for me to see, but was just wondering if anyone else has received this email? Also I believe they are looking for test horses that need change in their diet and wants you to write in detail what you notice each day. She said its suppose to come out in May.

I was just curious if anyone else has heard about this and what they feel about it. All my horses are currently being fed the Omolene and I am pretty happy with it. I know of 1 or 2 horses that could benefit from this because they look awesome now but once you actually work with them they drop in weight.

I have heard the same. Guy at my feed store said that they had got a bit of info about. I fed it for a while but really had to up my Body Builder on some horses during training. It has been sort of hush hush I think. Purina has been running ads in my horse magazines really building up the "idea" of the product coming out. Also, have seen a few commercials about it on RFDTV. Both just give you enough info to keep you wanting more...Great marketing. I didn't realize that it was a "change" though, I thought that it was a completely new line.

Well it might be a new line, I don't know. I was told Omolene and I haven't seen the info. I tried looking it up on their site but haven't found anything on it yet.

No info...I went and checked too. I am searching thru my magazines now trying to find the ads. I'll post if I find something.

Purina ran same ad in both Equus and Horse and Rider in March. Just shows feed back seam and says...A Difference is Coming Your Way...

That is the way that all of the ads have been. No info just build up.

So they are going to stretch their dollar by adding in beet pulp and changing the formulation a bit more. Nice. Our beet pulp prices will go up again. LOL! Grain will either stay at its price or go up for Purina, because it is 'NEW!'.

Hmm who knows then lol. I belive I may saw a ad for it on Purina's site. It was pretty much a bizare looking commerical, I didn't have sounds cause my computer is dial-up and I was waiting for it to play first but my computer restarted itself up at the very end of the commerical. All it looked like it was saying too was a change is coming.

Thats what I'm worried about too. I had to switch everybody to Omolene several months ago cause their last feed wasn't working and it was too expensive and I don't want to switch feeds again right before show season if this is Omolene we are talking about.

I just attended a Purina workshop put on by our local feed mill and they did announce the addition of Omelene 400 and 500. I do believe that I remember the gentleman saying that one of these I think it was the 400 would be a 40lb bag instead of 50 due to the adding of beet pulp and some other things.

Do you remeber what the 400 and 500 were? Are they going to keep the original 3 the same?

I believe 1 2 3 were staying the same just the addition of 4 and 5. I think they were also changing their fat source or at least their presentation of fat to a nugget type. The Purina Rep did a great job in presentation. He was not a hard seller but did have alot of information on the difference in feed costs analysis. It was very interesting.

I feed the 200 to 2 of my horses 300 to 2 of my horses and I hope they don't MESS with it. I also add Platform to their diet for extra roughage I add the senior Plateform for my older mini's which is 19% FIBER and it has beet pulp in it so I don't need any more beet pulp plus, I feed beet pulp in the mornings. Always MESSING around with something I'll tell ya.... Why not just leave my feed alone, I'm happy with it... Dang it. ONLY decent feed I can get around here. I LIVE in toolyville here and it's not like I have a lot of choices.

Soooo frustrating, so I hope they don't change. The other feed stores in town don't have any grain this is the ONLY grain in town everything else is pellets. My mini's would NOT be happy..... TJ

It looks like they are changing it as well. Though not too dramatically. They are adding their Amplify product to it as well.

I like the idea, myself. I received the materials to be part of the test group, and I am going to give it a try. I just can't use beet pulp in my program right now, it is too much work and time intensive, if I was the only one doing the feeding and I wasn't working as much as I do, maybe I would be able to keep it up. With the new Purina formulations I can get the beet pulp in without the soaking and extra steps. I also like the ideas of the added fat and the sources they are using for it. I am hoping to simplify my feed program even more with this feed, it should replace all of my main supplements including the Glanzen 3 and the HorseGuard. I will be working with the Purina Feed Specialists to come up with an optimum program for my horses.

Did you sign up some where to be a test farm? It may be something i would be interested in - i tried Omolene back last summer and was not to impressed to be honest but the 500 looks like it may be a nice feed..

This is really close to ADM Jr. Glo, but not quite. Interesting that they are taking their program in that direction.

I hope they don't decide to mess with the Omolene 200 to put beet pulp in it. I like it just the way it is and so do my horses. My one gelding I just switched him back to it after using Triple Crown Senior which has beet pulp in it. This horse hates beet pulp! So I'm hoping they leave it just the way it is...otherwise I'll have to go to something else...again....

both sound interesting, but I'd like to see an ingredient list and a nutritional analysis for each. I do think the 400 sounds pretty good, but without ingredient list or nutritional analysis, its hard to judge.

Hmm looks interesting. I will be willing to try it, especially on the stallion that I have weight issues on when it comes to working.

Looks like they are changing the 200 and 300 and putting the Amplify supplement in. Honestly I have no problems with it, but I wished they would have started selling this during the winter months when so many of us in May will be starting show season and I'm sure alot of us don't like to change feeds during show season. I am also curious how much more the feeds are going to cost? Right now I am paying around $14 a bag, I hope it doesn't go up.

I'm glad too see it looks like they won't be doing anything to the 100, our 2 gelding boys don't need the extra fat
