Making Oreo his own thread to keep up to date. Around Dec 6th, 2020.

He is a 17yr gelding, 39in at the true wither. I measure minis as real horses, not as fake ones to get the shortest height. He was with his last owner since he was 6yrs old and was their daughter's lead line pony.

He's 100% available, if anyone is looking. Hoping to figure out what he knows soon & see what he can learn!

He's been very mellow, no kick, bite, rear, spook, leads fine, so on, seems okay with cats/dogs, low man on the totem pole. Previous owner made him sound a bit crazy, but I haven't seen it. Spring might be different, we'll see!

New guy was let out today and you can add "respects hotwire" to his list. He also met Pavlov(RIP) and didn't bother her one bit. Ran over to hide next to me when Kasia decided to bite his butt, so, he's a smart sweetie.

Everything is so muddy & no fun for any of us...
Moved nets down the line today, just a tiny bit of mud there...for now.
Bay tobiano boy.

I let my 4 out in muzzles the other day.
Pavlov(RIP) was standing quietly by a tree, but Oreo had a little panic attack over "everyone abandoning him".
I caught him by hand and told him to chill tf out. Then asked him to follow me, he did. He then noticed Pavlov(RIP) coming over and waited by the gate with her. Brought them hay and all was fine.
Just a momentary loss of reality.

He walked around me after I placed the saddle, but was otherwise okay with it.

Oreo has been slowly letting out his personality...

Today, it was disrespect! I asked him to move over & twice he slowly brought over his butt at me. So, he got a good whack!

Decor is of no bother to him.

January 2nd, 2021.

Moved a corner of track to make mowing easier, Oreo & the other ponies approved.

As of February 10th, 2021-
His separation issue has been minimal since the first time.
His butt disrespect hasn't happened again.

Back to timeline-

January 30th, 2021.

Other than wanting to greet every horse, nothing bothers ol' Oreo!

The pics of the lady in green hat and brown coat isn't me. We were early and I let them wander and let others handle my ponies.

Continuation of January 30th, 2021.

It's worth noting that I haven't done any obstacle work or lunging work with him yet. This is all "raw" moments.

And now we're up to date, basically.

Been messing with sheep & snowstorms, so not much time for horse work.

He's a wonderful old boy, I hope you find him the perfect home ...... or maybe keep him?
In two of the pictures you have a grazing muzzle on one of the little ones that looks like it's metal on the bottom? Is it metal on the whole bottom? Where did you get it? I've only ever seen rubber and mine get chewed through every summer, at $50-80 a muzzle it gets pretty pricey.

It's a cribbing muzzle that came with a rubber liner to double as a grazing muzzle.
It wasn't made with any real thought, though. I used wire to tie the rubber into place, otherwise, it pops out super easy.

I have 3 types currently. Most important thing seems to be making sure it's much larger than the nose, that way, they can eat without any rubs.
The Cashel type, no one ever adjusts them! Once adjusted, it's much more difficult for them to remove.

Cribbing muzzle & my fix. I also use old rubber rain boots for new liners.

Cashel & other names, always shown NOT adjusted. Itll fall off if they shake their heads...

My guy with it adjusted.

Awesome, thanks. I always have them a size bigger so they don't rub and adjust them up to stay on. I never thought of old rubber boots to 'fix' the bottoms. What a great idea, I'll try it!

Love your photos, Secuono, they are all so interesting! Your ponies are a good looking group and Oreo is not only handsome, he seems like a real trooper!

You have, however, saddled me with a serious case of arena envy! 😂 What an absolutely amazing set up. I bet you really enjoy your time there!

I don’t currently have need of a muzzle but your rubber boot idea is genius!

Which one?
The covered one isn't mine. I went to Louisa Va for a playday/open house my trainer buddy was hosting.
The open, tiny, grey one, I'm still fixing.

Oreo is shedding like crazy! But lots of freezing days ahead, so I won't brush him yet.
