Marty to so good at writing poems for other, I started this spoof based on "The Noght Before Christmas" Maybe someone else can complete it.

T'was the night before last, that's Monday of course,

Not a creature was stirring, not n'ery a horse.

The Prancers all had been fed with great care.

And Jerry had just settled down in his chair.

Marty was in for the night but not yet in bed

While visions of Holly foaling ran through her head.

Jerry in his jeans. He'd pulled off his cap.

He was just thinking of taking a much needed nap.

Marty was watching the foal cam thinking Holly looked fatter

When Holly went down quick. Marty said, "What's the matter?"

Away to the barn, Marty almost took flight,

Tore open the door and turned on the light.

With the summer dew on the breast on the newly mowed grass,

Jerry shot out the door almost busting his _ _ _.

When what to their wondering eyes should appear,

But two miniature hoofs coming from Holly's rear.

(Sorry, but I couldn't pass up those rhyming words)

Jerry's a big guy, and he's lively and quick

So he grabbed those two hooves just in case they might stick

More rapid than eagles the little foal it came.

It wiggled and twisted and waited for his name.

Not Merry Beth, not Silver Belle, not Nick or Holly

Sorry, I didn't get any further.

I will finish it later.

What a great job you have done so far. Marty should include it in a book she could write.on the foal

At long last it was Tiny Timmy, by golly!!

A bay, not a gray, so shiny and slick.

A beautiful son of her beloved Nick!

Oh my goodness, you have me rolling in laughter! how funny and it is exactly the picture that Marty painted of that night! AWESOME!

I love it! I love what you did! I can't wait to get home and see if I can add to it when I find my copy of the poem. And Click is right- we've GOT to get the MILKMILKMILK post in there somewhere.

My contribution 'til then will have to be limited to some tweaks and suggestions (I'm an editor by nature

I think "not n-ery (nary) a horse" is a double-negative. Maybe. Possibly. I'm suddenly blanking out.

Although if it is, come to think of it, it might be quite accurate for Marty's raucous night-time herd!

Those last two lines are great!

I changed it to "its name" because I think there should be a stanza about checking under the tail.

This is too fun! Can't wait to get off work and write more of this if you haven't finished already.

Great job.

Thanks, Lisa. I didn't have time for editing since I wrote it right on the computer. I DO like for things to be gramatically correct. That double negative was intentional however-just for a little Tennessee"color". It sounds like something my grandma might say, and we're from estern N.C. That's pretty darn close to Tennessee. I';d say we're sister states. I do hope to get this thing finished, but I've been way to busy. Thanks, everyone, for the additions.

Oh my goodness PEGGY THANK YOU!!!! and everybody. This is just so cute! Never expected this but it's way adorable. I"m going to use it on my website if that's ok~? I read it to Jerry and his expression was priceless.
