Oh yes - Obama's past associations will factor into an Obama Presidency!

I refuse to allow racism to be brought into the argument. The only "race card" that has been played is by Obama and his campaign. Let's remember a couple of things. It was Obama who has tried to "hide" his race… Obama is 50% Caucasian, 43.75% Arab and only 6.25% African Black. So – if the question is race that is being brought up then tell the American people why he did not write about his Arabian heritage and make himself a new identity in his biography.

Otherwise – let's leave race out of the topics and allow the American voter to know the truth of Obama's assocations.

www.knowobama.org There is so much on this web site almost impossible to read it all.

Also, Bassett, I know I've occasionally cited sources that lean a little left, but I think there's a line. I don't think you can lend any credibility to a site with a sidebar link that says "Hiden Hypnosis Obama Uses! PDF File!"

Thank you bassett!!! It drives me crazy hearing all the time, he's african american. No he's not!! I guess we are suppose to forget his white mother. Is it because he wants to think himself as a african american?? I really want to know. Is he ashamed of being half white? Has he ever said why??

So, why'd you bring it up?

Did you actually look at the site listed. I didn't say this. Someone else did. I'm not saying any more, just want to set you straight. There is a lot of things listed that you won't agree with. well I do. jmho

Not going to argue the point. It is all there in black and white.

I looked at the site long enough to realize how ridiculous it is. And no, it has nothing to do with the fact that it's against Obama. It has to do with things like " we will reveal the hidden agenda of socialism wrapped up in hope", "we will unmask that man behind the curtain who we deem as the most dangerous man in American politics today...We are patriots defending our nation from the enemy within."

Then there's the whole hypnosis thing, 'Muslim' resources...

Really Bassett, I know you're too bright to buy into this stuff.

And even if someone else said it, you still felt the need to post it here so I'll ask again: Why even bring it up?

Bassett, if you're not comfortable answering the question that's fine, just say so.
Okay. I Believe it and I think it's time everyone else listens to some common sense. There now you have your answer but you will not be satisfied with my opinion because it is not the same as yours. Only your opinion counts. And you will be all over me like my underwear. Satisfied????

First, I don't want to be all over anyone like underwear. Ew.

Secondly, I'm saddened to hear that you believe that website. IMO, it reeks of fearmongering, ignorance, and racism. Ultimately to each their own, but I'm saddened all the same.

On the plus side for you, I don't think we'll be debating much anymore. The kind of 'logic' that site employs isn't logic at all, IMO, and thusly can't be argued with.

Is it because he wants to think himself as a african american??
I wouldn't presume to even guess how he thinks of his heritage. But I will say that so far he's certainly benefiting from the african american part of it.

I refuse to allow racism to be brought into the argument.
As has been noted - you just did.

Let's try to stick to sources with some credibilty... at least Fox or MSNBC do not usually give any substance to the stuff on that type of website.

As to his nationality... he is AMERICAN.

As to ethnicity - I got A plus in Genetics at college - and having a black Kenyan father would make you 50% black - or Kenyan, if you prefer.

Thus he was 50% white American and 50% black African.... without breaking it down into past generations.

Arab - is not a nationality. You can be Saudi, Libyan, Palestinian... Arab is an ethnicity. Muslim is a religious denomination - and is not determined by genes. Yet the two are often used interchangeably - and hence confusion arises.

When has Obama ever "hid" his race? He is of mixed race and has said so repeatedly.

Rush Limbaugh was wrong when he said this... http://mediamatters.org/items/200809220015 (mediamatters leans left but the quote from Limbaugh is accurate.)

But he’s not black. Do you know he has not one shred of African-American blood? He doesn’t have any African — that’s why when they asked whether he was authentic, whether he’s down for the struggle. He’s Arab. You know, he’s from Africa. He’s from Arab parts of Africa. He’s not — his father was — he’s not African-American. The last thing that he is is African-American.
I think Rush was also confusing Arab with Muslim.

Obama is half African... half American.

Most of us are of mixed heritage...

I can't believe the lies that some continue to try and perpertuate. Do you think people are stupid????? If you don't like him or like his policies FINE, but STOP THESE LIES.

From Wilkpedia - please go look for yourself if you don't believe - oh wait you won't do that you would rather keep up this ridiculous charade.

Barack Obama was born on August 4, 1961, in Honolulu, Hawaii, to Barack Obama, Sr., a black Kenyan of Nyang’oma Kogelo, Siaya District, Kenya, and Ann Dunham, a White American from Wichita, Kansas.[2] His parents met while attending the University of Hawaii at Manoa, where his father was a foreign student.[3] They separated when he was two years old and later divorced.[4] Obama's father returned to Kenya and saw his son only once more before dying in an automobile accident in 1982.[5] After her divorce, Dunham married Lolo Soetoro, and the family moved to Soetoro's home country of Indonesia in 1967, where Obama attended local schools in Jakarta until he was ten years old. He then returned to Honolulu to live with his maternal grandparents while attending Punahou School from the fifth grade in 1971 until his graduation from high school in 1979.[6] Obama's mother returned to Hawaii in 1972 for several years and then back to Indonesia for her fieldwork. She died of ovarian cancer in 1995.[7]

Does it really matter how what race he considers himself? I think, people who are mixed are always going to consider themselves more of one of them.

My son is half african american and half white. He considers himself white, does that mean he is ignoring his African blood? No he doesnt. WE are actually planning a trip to the african area his is from so he can see that side of him so to speak. AS we will do with our next child who is half latino

Who cares what race he is or isn't? Or what religion he is.. or not. Wish this country would grow up...and no flames because I have firm beliefs in that matter.

Bet'a ya... a good researcher could dig up some dirt and tear any one here (that are bringing up these aggressive lies) to shreds because of it. Am so tired of all the bashing, untruths, half truths and down right lies I not only see on TV but on some of the boards.

Sure doesn't invoke my confidence in politics or the general public.

How about this... I look white, people think I am totally white but my Grandfather was a full blooded Penobscot Indian..."and" he was born on the wrong side of the blanket. Maybe some will get the point.. or not.

Wasn't that long ago(back when I was a child),, to be any part of Native American was a very, very bad thing...to even admit it..would mean anything from your stock getting killed, you being abused, Threatened, to your house being burned and so on. My Mother lived in heck because of what her father was. She wasn't judged for the person she was... only what part of her blood was and who her father was.

Because of our mixed blood we had no rights. Wrong on so many levels. When I grew up, I would not hide what I am... because of what I had to go through as a child.. I will not do those kinds of things to other people..no matter the race/mix or what ever.

Wish people would grow up.

Added: now that I have read through the whole thread... it is very nice having others think as I do. Nice not to be alone.

There is only one RACE - the human race descended from Adam and Eve and then from Noah and his wife. There is actually only one color too just different amounts of it in each person. It is so ignorant to judge a person based on their country of origin, their ancestor's country of origin, the color of their skin, the shape of their face, etc. That is hardly what I consider when I choose for whom I will vote. That said, I do find it fascinating all the different backgrounds from which we come. I myself have German on my mom's side (uh-oh, just think of what some Germans did!) and my dad is more the Heinz 57 type - Irish, English, possible some Indian in there, etc.

I would be... let's see... roughly 50% Swedish. 25% Norwegian. 25% Austrian... AUSTRIAN!!?? OMG - Hitler was born in Austria!!

.... but I am 100% Canadian.

That was a brilliant way to put things, Jayne - thank you!

Uh-oh, Tag. I'm mostly German. I sense trouble brewing...

I should also point out I'm German from RUSSIA, which is just as evil!

And I have a little Native American background. By saying I'm white am I turning my back on my Native heritage?

Hey, Lowerise, maybe we're related. My German ancestors came to America from Russia too! I know it is pretty common. They spent time in the east and midwest before settling in CA. I bet your German family history is like that too, huh? Anyhow, I love how this thread has gotten off topic.
