Hey Stephanie, I'll give this another shot... If anything I'll get you bumped back up there to get more opinions on that question.. I have often thought that halter would be the easiest of classes to start off in...But it does require that the horse meet all of the conformation standards, as that will be scrutinized closely, for beauty, good movement, well proportioned horse type body, perfect tracking, legs, etc. Of course those things may not matter so much in a class focused on ability, such as obsticle, or jumping... So it will really come down to the type of horse you end up choosing...as his or her qualities will determine what he or she will be good at.. Hope that helps
 
My first mini was a stallion, but Thats cuz I've trained large stallions and I felt like I could handle one. But I've sold two Geldings to first time owners and they just love them.
