I can't believe Karo is over a month old, how time flies

Her legs are doing great. She is still a little bit down in the pasterns but improving all the time. Her front legs are actually stronger than her back legs, she's till weak in the hocks. The farrier has already trimmed her little tootsies twice. We still have to limit her exercise. She gets to go out behind the barn for 30 minutes a day but that's it for now.

I can't get over how tiny and tippy her ears are, she just has the cutest little head ever

Her little hooves look pretty long to have been trimmed twice already....?

Have you tried any way of putting *shoes* with trailers on her for a day or two at a time? There is a very simple way of using a strap hinge, taken apart and bent at the right place and angle, to offer support, in the form of a "trailer", to one with the problems she has.

I have routinely trimmed the feet of youngsters that early and often-whether they had suspensory problems or not. However, I really TRIMMED (or in some cases, just properly rasped)them. For instance-- the toes can be squared to help with proper breakover-your farrier should know this....sorry, but in the pictures, I don't see real evidence of proper, helpful-to-her, trimming.

(This is not unique to her; I see MANY improperly-trimmed miniatures, both in photos and in the flesh, everywhere I look. Most often, it is letting a hoof look like a piece of pipe-just too much overall length, fore and aft. ONE problem-this elevates the frog so that it makes no ground contact, and therefore, cannot function as the 'pump' for the foot's circulation that it is designed by Nature to be.....)
