what?

Frank is the guy who said yesterday that we need to forget the deficit and spend more. They're already working on another HUGE spending package. I honestly don't know how we'll economically survive if they're in control after the election.

Assuming that the Democrats still have a majority in the House after the first of the year it will be interesting to see who they pick as the Speaker of the House. I trust they will move past Pelosi.

Barney Frank

Massachusetts Democratic US House of Representatives member, Barney Frank, said it's time for an immediate increase in spending and I think this is a time when deficit fears need to take a second seat.

He added, later on, I think there should be tax increases.

Turning a blind eye on spending that could bankrupt the government is nothing new to Barney Frank. Frank is the current chairman of the House Financial Services Committee and a chief proponent of the controversial low-income loans that were being doled out to people who could not afford them by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. He has received campaign contributions in excess of $42,000 (granted, it's only a fraction of the $126,349 that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac gave to Barack Obama to keep things at the status quo) from Fannie and Freddie

and, in 2003, opposed George W. Bush's calls for increasing oversight on the loan brokers.

On July 14th of this year, in a CNBC interview, Barney Frank said, I think this is a case where Fannie and Freddie are fundamentally strong, that they are not in danger of going under... Less than two months later, the FHFA placed Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac into conservatorship in one of the largest government bailouts up until that time.

In September, media mogul Rupert Murdock accused Barney Frank of being one of the key individuals responsible for the current housing crisis.

Barney Frank, who was formally reprimanded in July 1990 for his relationship with a male prostitute who was running an escort service out of Frank's apartment and who is a strong advocate of decriminalizing marijuana, seemed quite smug and confident that the new government will be able to do anything it wants.
